APOYO URGENTE AL HISTORIADOR TURCO TANER AKCAM


  Cuando Turquia celebra el domingo 22 de Julio elecciones anticipadas organizadas por el Partido de la Justicia y el Desarrollo (AKP), en el poder, un candidato independiente es asesinado y amenazas pesan sobre otros.
 
En este contexto de violencia, el Comité de Apoyo a Taner Akçam hace participe de su viva preocupacion en cuanto a la situacion que vive actualmente Taner Akçam.
 
El Profesor Akçam, historiador y sociologo, profesor asociado de la Universidad de Minnesota, es objeto de una campaña de llamamientos al linchamiento lo mismo en los Estados Unidos que en Turquia, de maniobras de intimidacion y de amenazas de muerte muy serias por haber escrito en sus obras que las matanzas de los Armenios en 1915 constituyeron un genocidio.
 
Taner Akçam fue amigo de Hrant Dink, periodista, intelectual y democrata turco de origen armenio.
No pudimos proteger a Hrant Dink, asesinado el pasado 19 de Enero en Estambul. Tenemos que conseguirlo por Taner Akçam.
 
Por eso pedimos a todos los responsables politicos europeos y nacionales que exijan del gobierno turco que tome las medidas necesarias para impedir las campañas de odio dirigidas por el diario turco Hürriyet asi como varios sitios de internet y que hagan saber a dicho gobierno que los responsabilicen de la seguridad y la vida del Profesor Akçam y de sus parientes.
 
Lo mas inquietante es que fue una campaña identica en el mismo Hürriyet (ampliamente difundido en Europa) que llevo al asesinato de Hrant Dink.
 
La Union Europea, y en particular España, tiene que conseguir la abrogacion del articulo 301 del codigo penal turco, bajo el cual mas de 60 intelectuales hasta ahora han comparecido o van a comparecer ante la justicia por "insulto a la identidad turca".
 
Esta ley que crea "traidores de la patria" ha matado y matara de nuevo.
 
El camino de las negociaciones para la adhesion de Turquia a la Union Europea debe pasar por el respeto de los derechos humanos y permitir que se exprece sobre los hechos historicos relacionados con el genocidio armenio otra voz que la del Estado.

Dringende Unterstützung für den türkischen Historiker Taner Akçam

Als sich die Türkei am Sonntag, 22. Juli zu den Wahlurnen begab, wegen der vorgezogenen Neuwahlen, die von der aktuell regierenden Partei für Gerechtigkeit und Fortschritt (AKP) organisiert wurden, wurde ein unabhängiger Kandidat ermordet, Drohungen lasteten auf anderen.

In diesem Kontext der Gewalt, teilt Ihnen das Unterstützungskomitee für Taner Akçam seine überaus große Sorge bezüglich der Situation mit, in der aktuell Taner Akçam lebt.

Professor Akçam, Historiker und Soziologe, Gastprofessor (Associate Professor) an der Universität von Minnesota, ist Opfer einer Kampagne mit Aufrufen zu seiner Ermordung, sowohl in den Vereinigten Staaten als auch in der Türkei, begleitet von Einschüchterungsversuchen und sehr ernsten Todesdrohungen, weil er in seinen Werken geschrieben hat, dass die Massaker an den Armeniern im Jahr 1915 einen klaren Fall von Völkermord darstellten.

Taner Akçam war ein enger Freund des türkisch-armenischen Journalisten, Intellektuellen und Demokraten. Wir haben Hrant Dink nicht schützen können, der am 19. Jänner dieses Jahres in istanbul ermordet wurde. Wir müssen jetzt für Taner Akçam erfolgreich sein.

So bitten wir alle verantwortlichen PolitikerInnen auf europäischer und nationaler Ebene, von der türkischen Regierung zu fordern, dass sie die nötigen Maßnahmen ergreift, um die Hasskampagnen zu verhindern, die die türkische Tageszeitung Hürriyet ebenso wie verschiedene Internetseiten führen, und die türkische Regierung wissen lassen, dass sie sie für die Sicherheit und das Leben von Professor Akçam und die ihm Nahestehenden verantwortlich macht. Das Beunruhigendste ist, dass es eine identische Kampagne war, in derselben Zeitung Hürriyet (die weit in Europa verbreitet wird), die zur Ermordung von Hrant Dink geführt hat.

Europa, und speziell Frankreich, müssen die Abschaffung des Artikels 301 des türkischen Strafrechts erreichen, nach dem bis heute mehr als 60 Intellektuelle vor Gericht erscheinen mussten oder müssen, für « Herabsetzung des Türkentums ». Dieses Gesetz, das „Vaterlandsverräter“ produziert, hat getötet, und es wird wieder töten.

Der Weg der Verhandlungen zum Beitritt der Türkei in die EU muss sich mit dem gebührenden Respekt für die Menschenrechte vollziehen, und zulassen, dass sich über die historischen Fakten, die mit dem armenischen Genozid verknüpft sind, eine andere Stimme als die des Staates ausdrückt.

Il Comitato di Sostegno a Taner Akçam.

Il Consiglio per la comunità armena di Roma aderisce all'appello 

lanciato qualche giorno fa dal Comitato di sostegno a Taner Akcam 

minacciato di morte dai suoi stessi connazionali 

e invita i propri sostenitori a fare altrettanto

trasmettendo la lettera sotto riportata ai media 

alle istituzioni politiche italiane ed europee inviandone copia per conoscenza a

Il  Professor turco Taner Akcam teme per la propria vita perché da mesi è bersaglio in una vasta campagna d’appello al linciaggio simile a quella che ha preceduto l’assassinio di Hrant Dink.

 

Questo Storico e sociologo vive e lavora ormai negli Stati Uniti d’America per ragioni di sicurezza, perché le sue ricerche l’avevano condotto ad affermare che i fatti avvenuti in Turchia nel 1915 non possono che essere considerati Genocidio e perché ha rivelato l’identità del webmaster di un sito negzionista turco-americano particolarmente virulento (Tall Armenian Tale) e così uno dei maggiori quotidiani turco, Hurriyet, incita alla vendetta generale mentre i siti internet turchi hanno pubblicato l’indirizzo di Akcam facendo appello ai loro lettori di “inviare i loro saluti” minacciandolo di morte.

 

Abbiamo bisogno di tutti voi per informare al massimo tutti i media e i responsabili politici italiani e soprattutto europei, è ciò che desidera anche Akcam.

 

L’obiettivo è che i nostri dirigenti politici e così i ministri e deputati europei esigano dal governo turco un presa di posizione netta e lo invitino ad attuare tutte le misure necessarie per far cessare questa campagna di odio le cui conseguenze sono purtroppo prevedibili e infine che il governo turco sia ritenuto responsabile della sicurezza di Taner Akcam della sua famiglia e dei suoi amici.

 

E’ una questione di diritti umani, di libertà di pensiero, di libertà di ricerca scientifica… argomenti che in turchia sono ancora tabù.

 SOSTEGNO URGENTE ALLO STORICO TURCO TANER AKCAM


 

Mentre la Turchia si reca alle urne domenica 22 luglio per le elezioni anticipate organizzate dal Partito della Giustizia e dello Sviluppo (AKP), al potere, un candidato indipendente veniva assassinato e altri canditati ricevevano pesanti minacce.
 

In questo contesto di violenza, il Comitato di Sostegno a Taner Akçam Vi partecipa la sua grandissima preoccupazione riguardo alla situazione vissuta attualmente dallo stesso Akçam.
 
Il Professor Taner Akçam, storico e sociologo, professore associato presso l'Università del Minnesota, è oggetto di appelli al linciaggio tanto negli Stati Uniti quanto in Turchia, di manovre di intimidazione e di minacce di morte molto serie per aver scritto nelle sue opere che i massacri degli armeni costituirono un genocidio.

 

Taner Akçam era amico di Hrant Dink, giornalista, intellettuale e democratico turco di origine armena.

 

Non abbiamo potuto proteggere Hrant Dink, assassinato il 19 gennaio scorso ad Istanbul.

 

Dobbiamo riuscire per Taner Akçam.

 

Ci appelliamo pertanto a tutti i responsabili politici europei e nazionali al fine di attivarsi esigendo dal governo turco di prendere le misure necessarie per impedire le propagande di odio condotte dal quotidiano turco Hürriyet e da diversi siti internet e di far sapere al sopraddetto governo che è considerato responsabile della sicurezza e della vita del Professor Akçam e dei suoi parenti.

 

La cosa più allarmante  è che una identica propaganda condotta dallo stesso Hürriyet (ampiamente diffuso in Europa) ha portato all’assassinio del giornalista armeno Hrant Dink.

 

 

L'Unione Europea, e in particolare l'Italia, deve ottenere l'abrogazione dell'articolo 301 del Codice penale turco per il quale più di 60 intellettuali sono comparsi finora o devono comparire in giudizio per "insulto alla turchità".

 

Questa legge che crea "traditori della patria" ha ucciso e ucciderà ancora.

 

Il cammino dei negoziati per l'adesione della Turchia all'Unione Europea deve includere il rispetto dei diritti umani e la libertà di pensiero permettendo che si possa esprimere liberamente sui fatti storici legati al genocidio armeno anche con tesi contrastanti con quelle imposte dallo Stato.

URGENT Call for Action : Defense Committee for the Turkish Historian, Taner Akçam

Shortly before the Turkish nation went to the polls for early elections  organized by the ruling «Party of Justice and Development» (AKP),  an independent candidate was assassinated while threats were and are still being made against the lives of others.

In this context of violence, the Defense Committee for Taner Akçam wishes to inform you concerning the life and well being of Professor Akçam and his family.

Historian and sociologist Professor Taner Akçam  is an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota in the United States. He has been the target of an intimidation campaign and of death threats both in the USA and in Turkey in retaliation for his articles and essays in which he affirmed that the massacre of Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire in 1915 was, in fact, a genocide.

Taner Akçam was close to Hrant Dink, a Turkish citizen of Armenian origin who was a journalist, intellectual, and champion of democracy in Turkey.  Hrant Dink was murdered on January 19th in Istanbul. We weren't able to protect him. We need to be more successful in protecting Professor Akçam's life.

Thus, we request that all the European and national authorities pressure the Turkish government to take whatever measures are necessary to stop the hate campaigns which are being run by the daily newspaper «Hürriyet» and by various internet sites. We want the Turkish government to be informed  that we hold it responsible for the safety and well being of Professor Akçam and his family.  The most unsettling fact is that there was an identical hate campaign in the same daily newspaper («Hürriyet»,  which has a large distribution in Europe) and it eventually led to the murder of Hrant Dink.

We would like Europe, and especially France, to obtain a repeal of Article 301 in the Turkish Penal Code, under which law more than 60 intellectuals have already been brought to justice for «insult against  Turkishness».  This law, which creates «national traitors», has already killed people, and it will no doubt continue to kill more.

Any negotiations for the adhesion of Turkey to the European Union must be preceded by a true respect for Human Rights and must allow others, rather than simply the Turkish Government, to express themselves concerning the historical facts related to the Armenian Genocide.
